Abstract
This project deals with doors. The goal of this project is to make students
aware of the kinds of doors available and how to make existing doors more
efficient towards production, manufacturing and to explain in details the
creation of a particular type of door.
This way, a money saving and a more comfortable production process is
experienced.
DOOR DESIGN
Two magnetic pieces will be needed. In fact, one will be put on the stiles specifically on
the latch stile, while the other magnetic piece will be put on the swinging part of the door
so that when the door regain its initial position the door will stop to swing.
On the hanging stile we will put hinges so that the door will swing in the horizontal
direction whether inward or outward.
To keep the door rigid we will use panels.
Door swings, or handing, are always determined from the outside (i.e. outside to inside,
or public to private).
Door swing directions diagram
• Left Hand (LH): If the hinges are on the left and the door opens in, it's a left
hand door. You push the door with your left hand.
• Right Hand (RH): If the hinges are on the right and the door opens in, it's a right
hand door. You push the door with your right hand.
• Left Hand Reverse (LHR): If the hinges are on the left and the door opens out,
it's a left hand reverse door. You pull the door with your left hand.
• Right Hand Reverse (RHR): If the hinges are on the right and the door opens
out, it's a right hand reverse door. You pull the door with your right hand.
The door will be a combination of a left hand and a left hand reverse door or a
combination of a right hand and a right hand reverse door..
